All Saints is happy to support African Steps, which was founded in 2003 to work in partnership with St Peter’s hospital, Likoma Island. Likoma is an 8 hour boat journey away from mainland Malawi and is very isolated. This presents challenges for any charity working there and the result is that few try, leaving the people more cut off and in need of help than those who live on the mainland.
African Steps, however, is acutely aware of the enormous needs of the people of Likoma and is committed to a long term relationship with the hospital. We will continue to strive to improve the lives of the people by ensuring that St Peter’s hospital remains open and is able to provide good healthcare and life saving work, albeit with limited resources.
We are extremely overjoyed and happy. It is like a dream that what we thought was impossible is becoming a reality. Our partnership has really brought unimagined progress and it is our prayer that this continues, with minimal or no challenges at all.
You are always in our prayers and the impact of assistance does not require any explanation, but speaks for itself. Likoma and St Peter’s hospital have been transformed and development continues to flourish. Without you we would have drowned a long time ago.
Zikomo kwambire (God bless)
African Steps is run completely by volunteers and has no administration costs. All the money which our supporters give goes directly to help the people of Likoma. We are privileged to have a team of fundraisers and people who are willing to give their time, commitment and skills. We hope to continue to regularly take medical teams to visit the hospital to teach new vital procedures and to help keep the staff up to date.
