There was an encouraging turnout for our first Open Worship Evening on Thursday August 21.
Silent meditation and Exposition of the Sacrament in the Lady Chapel was followed by prayer and intercessions, using the Taize song ‘Oh Lord, hear my prayer’ as the response.
Coffee and a chat were followed by a Bible study on Israel, led by Rev Sydney Maitland. It focused on Romans 9-11, and especially on chapter 11, verses 13-18, to oppose the view that the Christian Church has replaced the Israelites as God’s chosen people. The evening concluded with Compline.
A second Open Worship Evening will be held in the church from 7-9 pm on Wednesday September 17.
• Open Worship is part of our Mission Action Planning, which involves every charge in the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway in discerning missional goals for the year ahead and reviewing them annually with the Bishop.
