All Saints now has copies of the Penny Gospel produced by the Scottish Bible Society and More than Gold for outreach during this year’s Commonwealth Games.
Please take some to pass on to others who may benefit from it.
The book is a special edition of Luke’s Gospel together with the real life stories of five athletes whose own lives have been influenced and affected by the life of Jesus Christ:
- Kirsty Balfour, a Scottish lass who unexpectedly discovered a talent for swimming;
- Ernst van Dyk, a South African born without lower limbs who overcame the odds to win gold at the Paralympics;
- Dieudonné Disi, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide who was inspired to run for his country;
- Nick Willis, a New Zealand middle distance runner who candidly talks about the joy of winning and the sorrow of losing;
- Christine Ohuruogu, a British Olympian and record holder who credits God for her success.
More Than Gold was set up by Scotland’s churches, including our Diocese, to co-ordinate Christian activity during the Games.
